What's the cost?There's no cost! The migration script is available to download for all our users, even if you've only downloaded the trial.
How long does it take?
The migration can take anything from an hour to several, depending on the number of tickets and users you have in your Kayako installation.
If your Kayako database is very large, the script could timeout under normal conditions. We recommend to ask your server administrator or hosting provider to adjust the following settings.
What's the process?
The migration is split over two parts, as the script was developed for our version 1 (known as ArcticDesk). The steps are detailed below, with further information available if you click each step.
- Install ArcticDesk v1.3.3.
- Download and run migration from Kayako to ArcticDesk v1.3.3, without emailing users.
- Install the latest SupportPal version.
- Download and run migration from ArcticDesk v1.3.3 to SupportPal.
We recommend to carry out the migration as a trial first, without emailing users on step 4. Verify if the data has migrated over correctly, and then run again for the final migration.
Would my data be safe?
The migration script will connect to your live Kayako database so it can read the data records, but won't attempt to write anything. We always recommend to take a backup of your database before attempting to migrate.
